The 3rd Triennial Conference & General Body Meeting of CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES & WORKERS CONFEDERATION (CGEWC) was held at Sarat Chandra Institute of Eastern Railway, adjacent to Bandel junction, on 9th March 2025.

CGE&WC – WB is an INTUC affiliated organisation. The conference was inaugurated by M Qamruzzaman Qamar, President, INTUC, WB with lighting the lamp. A short Cultural programme was also organised by the ERMC, Bandel unit. More than 200 delegates from different Organisations like Railways, Department of Posts, Coal, LIC, Banks, Mint, Steel (SAIL), Port & Dock, NTC, BSNL, Power Sector, Ordinance and many other Central Government and Public Sector Organisations participated in the conference.

Md. Qamaruzzaman Qamar, President, INTUC, WB, in his inaugural speech, expressed briefly the anti-labour policy of the Central Government. He said that the entire working class, over the length and breadth of the country, is struggling to cope up with the vindictive policies of the present fascist Government at the Centre.

Sr Braja Madhab Ghosh, Secretary General and Sri Binod Sharma also spoke at length. The financial report was also placed before the House.

All the leaders and delegates from different organisations unequivocally narrated their respective miseries apart from the general public grievances owing to inflation, stock exchange downtrend and many other burning issues.

There were comprehensive discussions on each and the General Body of the house resolved to take stringent trade union actions to force the Central Government to withdraw such draconian policies with immediate effect.

Sri Dibyendu Mitra, General Secretary, INTUC, WB, delivered his speech nicely. Sri Harjit Singh from IISCO, Sri Shibaprasad Chakraborty from Defence, Sk Arif Ahmed from Haldia Dock, Sri Gautam Mitra from LIC, Sri Abhishek Biswas from Gun & Shell factory, Sri Manas Banerjee from NTC, Sri Indrajit Singh from CLW, Sri Rabin Rajak from BSNL and Sri Manoranjan Upadhyay from Bank Unions participated in the discussion and delivered their valuable views. Sri Ashis Kundu, Vice President, INTUC, WB, Sri Subhash Chandra Naha, Vice President, INTUC, WB and Sri Barun Kumar Das, Hooghly District President,  INTUC, WB, Sri Amar Roy, Sr. Secretary, INTUC, WB were also present in the conference. Five resolutions were placed and passed by the House.

Vote of thanks was given by Sri Swapan Dutta, General Secretary,  ERMC. The meeting was nicely conducted and compared by Sri Sanjay Chakraborty from LIC union. Lastly, a new Committee was elected with M Qamruzzaman Qamar as the Chairman, Sri Binod Sharma as the President, Sri Braja Madhab Ghosh as the Secretary General and Sri Mrinal Kanti Dhar as the Treasurer. The meeting came to an end with singing our National Anthem.
