As per the decision taken by the Samyukta Kissan Morcha, “Black Day” has been observed today by the ‘Joint Forum of Trade Unions’ to protest against the four Anti-Labour Codes, Privatisation of PSUs, Contractualisation of Employment & Ban on Recruitment policies which are allegedly imposed by the Modi-led Central Government.

Under the able leadership of INTUC WB President M Qamruzzaman Qamar, a handful of Senior Office Bearers of the State Branch participated in this programme alongwith a huge number of workers and followers with the other Trade Unions of the Joint Forum of Trade Unions on the aforesaid issues at the Nizam Palace, Kolkata, starting from 2 pm, as notified.

The Joint Forum of the Central Trade Unions held a mass demonstration program at Nizam Palace with a demand of scraping of new labour Laws imposed by the Central Government and to re-enactment of the old labour laws for the greater interest of the Working Class. The copies of the Labour Codes were burnt by the members of the Trade Unions.

On behalf of INTUC WB Branch, Sri Ashis Kundu, Sr Vice President, in his brief speech strongly condemned and criticised the Central Government who are working in favour of a few crony capitalists. He condemned the privatisation policy of PSUs by the government and asked why there’s ban on recruitment.

After the deliberation of one leader from each Trade Union, a delegation went to the Office of the Regional Labour Commissioner and handed him over with a copy of the memorandum where Sri Ashis Kundu represented the INTUC Union.
