Condolence meeting of deceased ex-Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was organised at WBPCC office today.

Among the other dignitaries, INTUC West Bengal President M Qamruzzaman Qamar graced the occasion with his august presence.

In his brief speech, he had highlighted the contributions made by Dr Manmohan Singh especially for the downtrodden people and Workers working in unorganised sector such as Unorganised workers welfare Act-2008 under which about 450000000(forty five crores) workers would be covered across Pan India and social security could be guaranteed (PF, Pension, Medical treatment, Financial Aid, In case of accidental death or full incapacitation Rs 2 lakhs as compensation would be paid), Right to Food Safety Act, Right to Education Act, Street Hawkers (Regulation, Rehabilitation and Welfare) Act covering more than a crore hawkers, Right to Information Act, MGNREGA (100 days job guarantee in a year to rural areas) etc.

Mr. Qamar had also mentioned the formation of Sachchar Committee to realise the real economic condition of minority communities. He also mentioned the contribution of Indira Gandhi as well.

AICC Observer for West Bengal, Asaf Ali and PCC President Sri Subhankar Sarkar were also present and delivered their valuable speech.
