An excellently organised meeting of the Central Government Employee’s & Worker’s Confederation was held today the 10th January, 2023 at Metro Railway Conference Room at the 10th floor of Metro Railway Office at Chowringhee Road, Kolkata, thanks to Sri Tapas Mukherjee, the President of Metro Railway Worker’s Congress. Sri MQ Qamar, the Chairman of CGEWC and the President, INTUC, WB Branch has graced the meeting with his august presence. Sri Binod Sharma, the President of the CGEWC allowed Sri B M Ghosh, the Secretary General to conduct the entire meeting.

Sri Ghosh, in his welcome speech, briefed about the agenda and expressed his concerns about the financial condition of the organisation.

Sri MQ Qamar, in his elaborate speech discussed about the necessity of inclusion of maximum number of manpower from Central Government & PSUs and the Contract Workers also in the organisation and reiterated that the Working Committee members should sit at least once a week in the State INTUC office itself to discuss various issues related to CGEWC. He stressed upon the importance of a Coordinator who’ll coordinate with all the organisations and file reports accordingly and will report to the Secretary General and brief every points during the meetings. He proposed the name of Sri Sourav Kundu (SAIL) as Coordinator and the house agreed to it. Sri Qamar also wished that “Shramiker Awaj”, the mouthpiece of INTUC, WB Branch to be published again.

Other eminent speakers were Sri S K Banerjee (Power Grid), S C Naha (Defence), B K Das (Railways), S Chakraborty (LICI), Ashis Kundu (Bank), M K Dhar (Defence), S R Mishra ( SERly), S Kundu (SAIL), S P Chakraborty (Defence), Md Arif (Haldia Port) and S P Ojha ( CPWD), everyone stressed upon the drawbacks of NPS and urged to immediately reinforce the OPS.

As per the suggestion of Sri Qamar and as he allowed, it was decided the Working Committee of CGEWC will sit at the State INTUC office every Wednesday at 5.00 pm.

As Sri Ashis Kundu, the Treasurer, requested, the committee agreed upon the necessity of an Assistant Treasurer and Qamar Saheb proposed the name of Sri M K Dhar, hence it was finalised.

It was also mentioned by B M Ghosh, the SG of the Organisation, the importance of publication of the “Shramik Chetana” the mouthpiece of the organisation immediately and it was decided that it will be published in this month itself.

The Vote of thanks was shared by Sri B M Ghosh, the Secretary General and the meeting was ended in a happy note, again thanking Sri Tapas Mukherjee and his team for his amazing hospitality.
