On 26th October, 2024, M Qamruzzaman Qamar, President, INTUC WB, went all the way from Kolkata to Vadhnagar, Gujarat(Birth place & working place of Narendra Modi) to FLAG OFF a ROAD MARCH where prominent Office Bearers of INTUC, Gujarat namely Manibhai Solanki (General Secretary), Amratbhai Parmar, Dhirendra Singh Solanki, Rakesh Kumar Brahmabhatt, Khanabhai Parmar, Mohanbhai, Rambhai & others were also present, for the members of Indian Railway Thikadar Mazdoor Congress (KGP-Division) in which the Joint Secretary, Sri Arvind Pandey (Pandit Ji), along with his eight fighters from INTUC, West Bengal Branch were present who will walk all the way from Vadnagar to Delhi to place their demands for earliest resolution of their various railway related issues.
These eight members of the Marching team from Kharagpur, West Bengal, will walk from Vadhnagar to Delhi, almost 1,000 kilometers, on foot to present their demands before the Hon’ble Prime Minister to raise their long-pending issues of the railways and request the PM for an earliest resolution.
In this connection, INTUC WB takes the opportunity to salute the valiant effort of Indian Railway Thikadar Mazdoor Congress (KGP-Division) especially Pandit Ji and his team who took the pain to start this march which began on Saturday from Vadnagar railway station.
It’s worth mentioning that their demands include determining the undefined minimum wage for workers providing catering services on trains and stations, allowing of selling goods at stations and on trains, honest monitoring of food quantity, quality and pricing, re-issuing of licenses for poor cobblers to operate at stations & the immediate payment of the undisputed pending amount of ₹11 crore to 218 catering workers. The aforementioned industrial dispute has been addressed at Office of Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner after that a petition has been filed at Calcutta High Court where the Hon’ble Justice has instructed Railway Authority to consider their legitimate demands but unfortunately the Railway Authority refused to carry out the order. So, the Un-Organised Workers of Railway have no alternative but to go on Padayatra to raise their demands.
