The President, INTUC West Bengal, Janab M Qamruzzaman Qamar was having a two day Official Visit to different districts of North Bengal to interact with the District Presidents and to strengthen the Organisation.

As a part of that, a well managed meeting was organised where, along with Qamar Saheb, the dignitaries from the State INTUC present were Sri Ajit Chakroborty, Sri S K Banerjee, Smt. Shrabanti Singh, President Women INTUC, WB, Smt Navaneeta Tirkey (Banerjee), General Secretary, Women INTUC, WB and all of them had deliberated briefly in connection with the purpose of the meeting and how to strengthen the organisation, as a whole.

The District INTUC Presidents of North Bengal who were present – from Darjeeling – Sri Dilip Das, from Coochbehar – Sri Bishwajit Sarkar, from Dakshin Dinajpur – Sri Ratan Sarkar, from Alipurduar – Sri Bibek Bose, from Jalpaiguri – Sri Debebrato Nag, from Malda – Smt Lakshmi Guha, from Kalimpong – the President couldn’t come due to road blockades, and North Dinajpur District was represented by the General Secretary.

In his brief speech, Qamar Saheb called upon the Presidents of North Bengal District INTUC to put up a strong fight unitedly against the anti-Labour policies of the Central and State Governments.

The sad demise of Budhadeb Bhattacharya, former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Sri Mrinal Bose, District President of Birbhum and the demise of the migrant workers were mourned by all.

The meeting was well planned and everyone thanked the organisers for arranging such a meaningful meeting in a short span of time.
