Today (15.01.2023) the District Convention of INTUC Burrabazaar District Branch was held at Nagor Nagorik Hall, Malapara, Kolkata under the Presidentship of Shri Shitlendra Jha.

At first INTUC Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest of the Convention Md Qamruzzaman Qamar, President INTUC-WB Br. & INC Flag was hoisted by Shri Dibyendu Mitra, General Secretary INTUC-WB Br. They along with other INTUC officials were garlanded the photos of Mahatma Gandhi ji & Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ji.

Prof. Pradip Bhattacharya, MP was graced the convention as the Guest of Honour who stressed upon to organise the unorganised workers of the District under the fold of INTUC to provide them the facilities of various social security schemes from which they are deprived badly.

Mr. Qamar given the Clarion Call to rejuvenate the organisation of INTUC in this District which is most significant & important in respect of the Unorganised working classes by forming strong unions for them and brought them under the fold of INTUC at earliest. He asked to form at least three unions for Loading n Unloading Workers, Mutiya n Mazdoors, Workers working at various small shops at Burrabazaar and Hawkers hawking at the streets n flower market of Burrabazaar within couple of months. He also assured to extend all out support on behalf of State INTUC in this regard. Qamar Saheb proposed to engage at least one member from the Unions of Organised Sectors like Bank, Rail, Coal, Port, BSNL, Postal, Tea Board, Confederation of WB Govt Employees and others in the District Committee whose headquarters are situated in this District. As per his advice the same has been made. He also vehemently criticised both State & Central Governments for their Anti Workers policies. Qamar Saheb asked to prepare all participants to organise movements by means of public agitation & proper forum of law against the Didi led State Government for the intentional mishandling of Welfare Funds for the Construction & Bidi Workers by depriving their statutory rights.

Other dignitaries of State INTUC like Asish Kundu, Dibyendu Mitra, Manas Banerjee, Goutam Saha, Sunil Singh given their speeches in this convention.

Prominent leaders of INTUC Tarak Paul, Pramod Pandey, Farzilur Rahaman, Manoj Singh, Sudeshna Sarkar, Sankar Nath Hazra were present in the convention along with other leaders and workers of the District.

The convention was concluded by Shitlendra Jha by giving vote of thanks to the house and the chairs.
